Directions by train

Trains from LIVERPOOL STREET ( London) to CAMBRIDGE stop at AUDLEY END station. There is a taxi service which can take you the final 2 miles to the school or alternatively local buses provide a service meeting most trains.

Directions by car

From London or the South

Leave the M11 at junction 8 marked Stansted Airport, Bishop's Stortford & Services. Take the A120 west towards Hertford and at the next immediate roundabout, go straight on to the next roundabout and take the third exit, the B1383, to Stansted Mountfichet and Newport. After Newport, turn right along the B1052 to Saffron Walden. Turn right at the double mini roundabout into Borough Lane. When you get to the crossroads at the end, go straight ahead and you will be in Mount Pleasant Road. The school car park is via the third entrance on the right.

From Cambridge or the North

Leave the M11 at Junction 10 marked Saffron Walden. Take the A505 east, towards Newmarket and at the first roundabout take the third exit, the A1301 and then the B184 to Saffron Walden. Pass through the shops in the centre of the town and when you get to the mini roundabout at the top of the High Street turn left into Debden Road. Proceed up the hill and take the third left into Mount Pleasant Road. The school car park is via the third entrance on the right.

Look out for the old Water Tower which is in the school grounds and is a recognisable landmark. Should you get lost, do ask - most people in Saffron Walden will be able to direct you to Friends' School.

School Transport for pupils

Our school transport service has proved extremely popular and is growing year by year. We currently provide transport for over 70 students to and from the School, on the routes detailed below.

1. BISHOP'S STORTFORD AND STANSTED RUN - mornings and evenings

Pupils are picked up in Bishop's Stortford, Birchanger, Stansted, Henham and Newport.

2. DUNMOW AND THAXTED RUN - mornings and evenings

This service collects pupils from Great and Little Dunmow and Thaxted only.

3. STATION RUN - mornings only

Transport between school and station is arranged for pupils travelling by train via Audley End station. Trains arrive at Audley End at 8.20am from Cambridge and at 8.20am from Bishop's Stortford (current timetable). Audley End station may also be used as a pick-up point for pupils who do not come by train.

4. CAMBRIDGE RUN - mornings and evenings

Pupils are picked up from both north and south Cambridge. Currently the route includes pick-ups at Milton Road, Chesterton Road, Grantchester, Trumpington and Stapleford. These are return services.

5. ROYSTON RUN - mornings and evenings

Pupils are picked up from Meltax car park, and then Barkway, Great Chishill and Arkesden.

Minibuses leave school at 5.15pm each evening and but at 4.15pm on Fridays.

Places on all of these services are limited and need to be booked in advance.

An address list is be circulated to all parents at half term in the autumn term and this can be used by parents, if they are not already aware of others living nearby, to arrange lift-shares.
