Take a tour
We would be delighted to show you and your family around the school. Visits normally take an hour and a half, and involve meeting the head, touring the school, and a chance to meet the boarding staff if you wish.
Please telephone to make an appointment.
Register
The most common points of entry are: into Reception in the September of the academic year in which your child is 5; at age 11+ or 13+; and into the Sixth Form. The school will always consider applications from children of other ages when places are available. To ensure that your child is considered for a place, please complete the registration form at the back of the prospectus. Return this and the registration fee to the school.
Encourage your child to find out more about the school
Following registration, Junior School applicants will be invited to visit. Your child will join the appropriate class and will be able to get to know the pupils and teacher, whilst being assessed informally during the day.
Senior school applicants will be invited to a number of 'taster days' at which they can meet other children who will be joining the school, teaching staff and the year head who will oversee their pastoral care. These occasions are also an opportunity for parents to meet staff and other parents.
Entrance Procedure
Senior School from age 11 years
The normal age of entry is eleven. [Although we are happy to consider applications for entrance from pupils of other ages.] Selection of applicants for Year 7 is completed after our own Entrance Examination, which takes place early in January of the year in which entry is sought. The examination is designed to test suitability for the kind of education which we offer here. Confidential assessments from the school the candidate attends at present are requested and wherever possible candidates are interviewed individually.

Sixth Form entry from age 16 years
Selection for these places is based on performance at GCSE examinations together with confidential assessments from the present school and personal interview. Although we are pleased to receive definite applications at any time of the year generally a provisional offer of a place is made in the Spring to be confirmed after publication of results in the Summer.

Junior School from age 3 years

During this time pupils will be informally assessed within the class environment. A decision will normally be given within forty-eight hours.
Confidential reports are requested from the school a pupil attends at present.
The main intake is at three years of age for the Nursery and at four and five for Reception and Form 1. At times there are places available in other forms. Please enquire.
