Sixth Form Trip to the Bowles Centre in Kent
September 2000
Students in the Lower Sixth at Friends' School visited the Bowles Centre in Kent for a weekend of team building and physical challenge. Current students and those new to the school spent the weekend skiing, rock climbing, orienteering and completing tasks on the rope courses.The centre, which specialise in courses for corporate groups, ran a course for the sixth form challenging them to work effectively as a team and to produce learning targets to pursue throughout the sixth form.
The group was particularly good at supporting each other in challenging situations. Virtually everybody successfully completed the high ropes course which involved a circuit on ropes and bars 40ft off the ground, and all successfully learnt to ski in the first evening.
A group of students have formed a Rock Climbing Club at the school as a result of their weekend away and are looking forward to future residential courses.
