Friends' School Saffron Walden

 Children of the Light
Children of the Light is a play recounting stories from the history of a school and has been written specifically for the Tercentenary celebrations of Friends' School Saffron Walden.

The whole production is collaboration between children and adults from Saffron Walden Meeting, from Friends' School and also involves Old Scholars. John Dickinson, who has written the play, is a former teacher at the school and the director, Ben Ingle, is an Old scholar. Current students who are involved include Kathrine Castle, Rachel Bloomfield, Antonia Ashford-Hodges and Leo Cunningham Baily.

The play could best be described as faction - a mixture of fact and fiction. Taking the Quaker beliefs of peace, equality, truth and simplicity as it themes, the play looks back to the past, reflects on the present and considers the future.

The essence of the play is the continuing story of the Inner Light that has guided generations of Friends.
