The annual ESOL trip took place from 29th April to
1st May 2006. Fifteen of our overseas students spent three days
in the Nottingham area including Sherwood Forest and Robin Hood!

An account of the trip by Eliza Lau in Year 10
From the 29th April to the 1st May, we went to Nottingham. On
the first day we woke up early, then we finished breakfast and we
left school at about 7:45am. We arrived in Nottingham Gateway Hotel
at 10 o'clock. We left our luggage in the hotel, and then we went
to visit The Tales of Robin Hood and Nottingham city centre. The
Tales of Robin Hood was very good and I enjoyed it. I took lots
of photos and I bought some souvenirs there. Nottingham city centre
is quite big and there are many shops. But I did not buy anything.
After that, we went to take the 'Ghost Walk'. The walk took us into
the oldest parts of Nottingham; I did not really enjoy it because
it was not scary or exciting. After that, we went to a Chinese restaurant
which I thought was really nice. I was really full and I enjoyed
eating there. It was nearly 11o'clock after the meal. We took the
tram back to the hotel and went to sleep very quickly.
The next day, we woke up early, because we were going to Alton
Towers. Although, it was raining and cold, it did not stop us going
on the rides. I bought lots of souvenirs for my friends and myself.
I thought the park was very big and fun. After that, we went bowling
and I ate in KFC with Oscar, Alex and Eric. At about 10:00pm, we
went back to the hotel. Some people went to the pub to have fun,
but I was not allowed, so I decided to go to sleep early.
The last day of the trip, we visited 'Sherwood Forest'. It was
warm that day but we still walked to see the Great Oak and took
lots of photos. Then, we went to the McArthur Glen Outlet where
we bought many things. Although, the place was quite small, I still
enjoyed shopping there. At around 4 o'clock, we went back to the
hotel and collected our luggage and we headed back to school.
I really enjoyed the trip because I could see many famous attractions.
It was an enjoyable weekend and I'm looking forward to the next
ESOL trip.
