Year 8 Geography Fieldwork in Epping Forest, November 7th 2002

Year 8 accompanied by Alison
Ainsworth, Jean King and Tony Miller went to Epping
Forest Field centre to study River channels. We were very
lucky to go on the only dry day of the week! The class
used a soil augur to examine the underlying geology. Here
we find out that impermeable clay (Bagshot Beds) provides
the source of the Loughton Beck which we studied. We took
measurements at 3 different sites and used the data to
produce reports back at school.
