Lower Sixth Geography Field
Trip to West Wales, April 2003

Lower Sixth Geography field work takes place in West Wales every April. Thanks to Alison Ainsworth for organising the field trip and taking the photographs.
Five lower sixth Geographers spent 4
days at the Rheidol field centre in West Wales studying
various aspects of Geography for their AS exams. The
weather was rather unsettled and practical measurements
had to be done where possible, avoiding showers of rain.
They found out what services were available in rural
villages, carried out pedestrian counts, land use surveys
and environmental assessments of Aberystwyth, studied
Ynyslas sand dunes and the Leri valley, looked at
erosional features in Clarach bay and carried out
measurements of the storm beach in Borth. Evenings were
spent processing the data back at the field
centre
