Year 10 Geography Trip to London 'Docklands' 9th June 2008

On 9th June Year 10 geographers spent a day in London’s docklands as part of their GCSE course. They were studying urban regeneration. They had a guided tour around West India quay and the Canary wharf development, completed a land use survey and were able to see at first hand the early buildings of the first stage regeneration work as well as the later high rise towers. New transport developments were studied at first hand by travelling on the Docklands Light Railway and by watching planes land at City airport. The museum in docklands ‘New Port, New city’ gallery gave them an insight into the issues which developed due to the changing nature of the area.

Many thanks to Alison Ainsworth for the photos and for organising this trip.
