Friends’ Junior School

– New Build News

Work started on our new Infant and Nursery School on 18th July and good progress is being made. Our new purpose built facilities should be ready for use by Summer 2012,  and will provide a modern setting in which our pupils will continue to be inspired and achieve their best. Our children are set to benefit enormously from their new and exciting learning environment.

Viewing Panels

If you have been making use of the viewing panels around  the new Junior School construction, you will have noticed that the single storey Nursery and Reception building is now up to roof level and the canopy supports will be in place over half term. The room layout is clearly visible on the ground floor of the main two storey building.

MUGA – Multi Use Games Area

We are very proud of our new multi use games area which has been in use for a couple of weeks from before half term and the feedback from all users is how true and responsive the surface is. The floodlights are fantastic and fully operational.  We look forward to an extended period of sports use through the winter. The new facility has been made possible through a generous grant from The Reckitt Trust.

Car Park

The Car park works are almost complete and indeed we were able to use the majority of it for Open Morning. However, we still await the final word on the soakaways from the Environment Agency.  If this is forthcoming then the new car park should be completed for the second half of term, but we will let all users know as soon as there is a change in parking arrangements.

In the interim Senior School parents should continue to drop off and pick up their children on the drive as usual, while Junior School parents and school buses will continue to have the exclusive use of the completed portion of the car park. We would ask all parents to refrain from parking anywhere else on the site, and in particular not to use the St John’s Close entrance.

Meanwhile, we thank you for your support and patience in helping us continue to work as normally as possible during this difficult phase.  We shall keep you abreast of developments and hope that you will be able to keep to our contingency arrangements and thereby help to promote the health and safety of all who work and live on the school site.
