We would like to welcome you to the Parent Teacher Asso­ci­ation which provides an oppor­tun­ity for parents to meet each other to discuss matters of mutual interest in the aims and work of the School and the welfare of the pupils.

Dear Parents

We are well and truly into the new school year and hope­fully all our chil­dren have settled into their new classes.

We have a new PTA commit­tee this year as the previ­ous commit­tee have worked very hard over the last two years and are enjoy­ing a well earned rest.  We can only hope to repeat their success!  We are always look­ing for parents to help or volun­teer at any of our events so if you would like to find out more please contact me on c.hulmes@btinternet.com for more information.

Forth­com­ing events include the new parents coffee morn­ing on Wednes­day 5th Octo­ber in the Junior School Art Room. All parents are warmly invited to attend this event which is an excel­lent oppor­tun­ity for new (and old!) parents to meet this year’s PTA.

In addi­tion, we will be organ­ising the Junior School Christ­mas Fayre - always an excit­ing time for the chil­dren - but also for the parents who come together for some stick­ing and gluing in December.

We shall be making Christ­mas Puddings again this year - which I know are becom­ing increas­ingly popu­lar! Look out for the order forms which will be distrib­uted next half term.

In the Spring term we shall be hold­ing the quiz night - always a popu­lar event for the compet­it­ive amongst us!

There are sure to be more excit­ing events to add to the calen­dar as the year goes on so we can continue to raise money for extra items for our children.

Gifts to the School

This is the new seat­ing in the year 7 common room partly funded by the PTA. We have also been able to order banners to go on the music stands for the middle school band which we hope will arrive in time for ‘Christ­mas Words and Music’. Quiz 8 May 2010

Thank you to every­one who came to the PTA Quiz Night and helped to make it such a success. This was a sell out and around £1000 was made. Special thanks go to Andrew Holmes for being a wonder­ful Master of Cere­mon­ies, to Donna Thomas for a fant­astic meal, and Liz Powell for a set of inter­est­ing, stim­u­lat­ing and at times very tricky ques­tions. Thank you also to the rest of the PTA for all the hard work put into making this such a great evening.

Meet­ings
We have an Annual General Meet­ing (usually in the Summer Term) and a wide range of social, fundrais­ing and educa­tional events through­out the year. These are advert­ised in the weekly Parents Notes and the Crocus and on the website and we look forward to welcom­ing you to these events.

Member­ship and Subscrip­tions
All parents and all members of staff are members, and parents are invited to pay a subscrip­tion of £7.OO a year per family which is added to the school bill. Parents may opt out of this and of member­ship if they wish. The subscrip­tion is used to meet the expenses of the Asso­ci­ation and to give gifts to the School.

Struc­ture
There are 4 lead­ing members of the Commit­tee whose details are shown below, but all parents in the Senior and Junior School are invited to the meet­ings which are publi­cised through our weekly Parents’ Notes and fort­nightly Crocus, and on the website.

A Direct­ory of parents’ names, addresses and tele­phone numbers will be produced during the Autumn term and emailed to all parents at half term. We will assume that you are happy for your details to be included in this direct­ory unless we hear to the contrary at the start of the Autumn term
