WORK CONTINUES APACE
We welcome Scott Dunbar as the new Senior Site Manager who has taken over the final stages of our project allowing Ben Ephgrave to move across to the CB1 development in Cambridge.
The new Junior School buildings continue to take shape, seemingly with each passing day. Underfloor heating has now be laid in both buildings on all floors and screeded over and the solar panels have also been fitted to the roof.
THE INTERIOR
One of the most exciting parts of a development is seeing it all come together and begin to take shape. We are certainly at that point now with the new Junior School and have finalised colours, flooring and all other interior finishes.
A TOUR FOR THE GOVERNORS
School Governors hold their Board meetings towards the end of each term and on 27th March took the opportunity to tour the new Junior School buildings during their lunch break. Everyone expressed their surprise at how much larger the proportions of the rooms and corridors were compared to the plans which they have only be able to view up to now. The views from the floor to ceiling windows on the north side of the main building looking up the avenue to the 1879 building were very impressive. There was even talk of perhaps being able to hold the next Board meeting on 19th June 2012 in the new hall!
FRIENDS AND FAMILIES DAY
We hope to be in a position to offer tours of the new buildings to parents and Old Scholars on Friends and Families Day. Look out for more details nearer the time.
OVER THE EASTER BREAK
Plastering will be carried out throughout both buildings with ceilings and acoustic sound boards in place. Mains services are also expected to be connected during this time.
During the first week of the holidays Debden Road will be closed to allow the sewer drains to be connected. We hope this causes as little disruption as possible.
HAND OVER
At the start of the project in July 2011, the anticipated handover date was 4th June 2012. The single story Early Years building is now expected to be ready on 15th June while the 2 storey main building will be handed over on 3rd July.
This is still before the end of term and therefore allows us ample time to move in during the summer holidays and begin the new academic year in our brand new buildings.
