The Junior School is able to offer a broad and effective curriculum
which is aligned closely to the requirements of the National Curriculum.
Particular attention is paid to developing the skills of literacy
and numeracy in the core subjects. In addition to English and Mathematics
the pupils study Science, History, Geography, R.E., Craft, Design
and Technology (C.D.T.) and Information Technology (I.T.). French
is taught from Year 3 onwards.
Teaching is class-based and is a blend of traditional teaching
methods and group learning through investigation and discovery.
As well as the academic subjects our children have specialist lessons
in Music, Art, PE, Games and Swimming on their weekly timetable.
Homework is set every day for pupils in the Junior Department
in order to build on and consolidate work that has been covered
in class. This can be completed at school during supervised prep
sessions and is expected to take between thirty and forty-five minutes.
Key Stage Two National Curriculum Tests are taken.
