Year 5 visit Audley End 2 May 2007

On a beautiful sunny morning, a group of Victorian servants; footmen and ladies’ maids, laundresses
and cooks walked to Audley End to begin their day’s work. With skirts swishing the grass and caps protecting their heads from the fierce sun, they made a memorable sight. Once at Audley End House, Mrs Warwick, the housekeeper, assigned the tasks – ox cheek soup was made, sheets washed and folded, and the cloud hedge inspected.
In the afternoon the children checked the servants’ quarters before wearily making their way back to school. What a relief it was to change out of their costumes!

Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf
Year 3 and 4 pupils put on a fantastic production last Thursday entertaining a huge and enthusiastic audience in the Drama Workshop. Many kind and positive comments have been received. Graham Wigley’s enduring memory of the show was Wolf’s struggle with his nightie while singing his solo (well done Jack!). |
|
|
A huge thank you must go to parents for their brilliant and inventive costumes. The children thoroughly enjoyed their chance to show off. Well done children in Year 3 and Year 4 and congratulations to Debbie Ballingall, Jane Manley and Martin Wilson.

Henry VIII visited Year 4 on 11th January
in all his finery! He gave children lots of gory and gruesome
Tudor facts and taught them to joust hobby-horse style. The
day was a great success.

Friends' Junior School enjoyed a day in rosy hue as they held a
PINK DAY to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. This coincided with
two of their mums, Alison Whitfield and Kathleen Hutchinson, setting
off on a sponsored climb of Ben Nevis, Scotland, also to raise money
for Breast Cancer Care. The sum raised by the school was £129.00
which will be given to the charity via the mums who returned triumphant
from their walk at the weekend. October 2006
