An international community

Your child will join a community that celebrates the diversity of culture and language brought by students from across the world. International students are fully integrated with those from the UK both inside and outside the classroom, sharing bedrooms, meals and social facilities.

Additional English language tuition is provided through the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). The amount of time spent on ESOL depends on each pupil's need and this is regularly monitored. The ESOL department provides a comprehensive programme of English language tuition for all levels of competence, combining small group teaching with individual learning. Cross-curricular support is given in liaison with subject teachers by highly qualified, experienced staff.

The pupils work towards English qualifications awarded by the University of Cambridge. Your child will leave the school at the end of the course with an internationally recognized qualification that can be used to gain acceptance in British universities. We expect children to have reached an intermediate level of English before they can be admitted to the school, and they will be expected to take an English assessment as part of the entrance procedure.

As well as the School's full programme of activities, the ESOL Department offers extracurricular activities, which include cultural trips. Click here to see photos of our last International Evening and click here to see photos of our last ESOL trip.

The cost of ESOL lessons will depend on your child's needs.

All children whose parents are abroad need to have a guardian resident in the UK. The school's guardianship scheme is able to assist in the appointment process.
